DrLeonelVelaOn behalf of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio faculty, staff and students located at the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC), I would like to express our gratitude for your interest in the RAHC programs and to welcome you to our website.  The RAHC, which is comprised of a Medical Education Division and a Medical Research Division, is located in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas and is a geographically separated campus of the UT Health Science Center San Antonio. Since the RAHC opened it doors in June 29, 2002 we have had a very successful start to our medical education programs—much more than anyone anticipated.

Border Health Elective at US-Mexico Border for Health Professionals in Training

Positions are still open in our February elective (02/06/2012- 03/02/2012) in Harlingen, Texas for medical or public health students with an interest in international health, border health, cultural aspects of health and environmental health.

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA)—the UT medical school that serves the South Texas/Border Region—offers unique field experiences at the U.S.-Mexico border for medical students enrolled at the UTSOM and visiting students enrolled in U.S. MD/MPH, medical, public health, and other health professions degree programs. This 4-week elective is presented by the South Texas Environmental Education and Research (STEER) program, based in Laredo since 1996 and Harlingen since 2004. [Read More...]
